Teacher Education Refresh (TER)
Whaowhia te mātauranga – fill the basket of knowledge
IRMTNZ offers a TCANZ-approved Teacher Education Refresh Course (TER) for school music teachers who need to renew their practising certificate. This course is open to IRMTNZ members and non-members.
The Course has four modules covering Curriculum Assessment, Planning & Teaching, Tomorrow’s Learning Communities (including Health & Safety), Professional Teaching Practices, and Cultural Competence. It is delivered via distance learning in an independent learning style, with flexible time frames negotiable to suit the needs and interests of the participants. Every effort has been made to keep costs to a minimum and relevance to the individual is paramount.

Funding is available from the Ministry of Education to cover the cost of Course registration in 2024. There are 2 remaining fully funded spaces between 1 July 2024 and 31 December 2024 – applications must be received by 30 November and accompanied by a current Police Vet. Please contact Wendy Hunt to ask whether you qualify for funding and to enrol.

IRMTNZ Library
From books on pedagogy by internationally acclaimed educators to filmed recitals by some of our most respected musicians, the IRMTNZ Library is well worth viewing. Items are available to members and teacher training course participants for their Continuous Professional Development and enjoyment.
Charge per item for one month loan: $7 including GST, postage and packaging. If borrowing in person $5 including GST. To borrow an item please contact our Librarian:

Please send Wendy your name, address, phone number, email, and proof of payment* ($7 per item). The item will be forwarded with a tax invoice. Rental is for one month from receipt of payment and the item must be returned in a postage pre-paid bubble envelope at the borrower’s expense.
